Hypnotherapy holds a lot of mystique in popular culture, therefore I feel it is important for you to understand some key facts:
What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is simply a state of focused attention. It is a very natural experience in fact. We enter into several of these ‘trance states’ daily; when we become engrossed in a new book, or when we drive home on ‘auto pilot’.. During hypnosis you’ll be guided into a similar state so that your sub-conscious mind becomes more receptive and more open to suggestions; with no interference from your conscious mind!
What is Solution Focused Hypnotherapy(SFH)?
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (SFH)is a model of excellence that uses interventions that are effective. Solution-focused therapy is an approach to psychotherapy based on solution-building rather than problem-solving. It explores current resources and future hopes rather than present problems and past causes.
Can anyone be hypnotised ?
Yes – although some people find it easier to relax than others. However even a light trance is all that is required to benefit from hypnotherapy.
Will I lose control?
No. A hypnotherapist can not make anyone do anything against their will or that they are not happy to do or say. In fact, during the trance work I would not expect you to speak at all. It is not the same as stage hypnosis, you are in full control at all times.
Will I remember everything?
While in hypnosis and afterwards, the conscious mind will allow to remember anything about the session that you want to remember.
Is it safe ?
Yes. You will be in a safe environment and will simply be relaxed. You cannot stay trapped in a hypnotic trance and also end your hypnotic trance whenever you want.
How many session will I need ?
This will be determined in the initial consultation. Some people need 6-8 sessions or sometimes more, it just depends on the clients needs & progress.
Quit Smoking sessions are different they only require a one off session lasting normally 2 hours.
Can hypnosis be used with children?
Yes. Children are natural hypnotic subjects. Most children age 8 and up can benefit. Children generally have good imaginations and they are open to positive suggestion.
